In 1939, Isle of Hope only had a few floating docks, which meant that marina boats were moored in the Skidaway River. To prevent passing boats from colliding at night, Willie Daise, lit a kerosene lantern on the mast of every anchored boat every evening, and rowed back out to extinguish them every morning. This beautiful rhythm is seen in our Daise patterns: one geometric print of linear navy and ivory shapes, and a coordinating nautical toile that pays homage to his keeping all boats safe in shared waters.
