MERMAIDS FOR MAMMOGRAMS
This fall, Spartina 449 is rolling out new additions to our Keynote Locket Collection, with three new beautifully designed Gem Notes that proudly support and encourage women in their fight against breast cancer. In addition, through our Mermaids for Mammograms initiative, Spartina is giving back by supporting Pledge the Pink, a local charitable non-profit devoted to breast cancer awareness and prevention.
Annually, Pledge the Pink hosts a three-day, 30-mile charitable race event on three beautiful South Carolina islands. The weekend of September 21-23, 2017, more than 1,300 women from across the country will walk 30 miles in 3 days: 10 miles a day on each of the following islands: historic Daufuskie Island, birthplace of Spartina 449; world-class Hilton Head Island; and the premier golf community of Callawassie. Proceeds from the Mermaids for Mammograms program, which debuts in stores in late-September, plus donations from Pledge the Pink race participants and Spartina's Warehouse Sale attendees, will combine to enhance Pledge the Pink's contributions to the American Cancer Society, Mayo Clinic, Hollings Cancer Center, Volunteers in Medicine, Carolina Cups, and other cancer-fighting beneficiaries. In total, monies raised will supply the cost of more than 1,000 mammograms to women in need.

DAUFUSKIE ISLAND HISTORICAL FOUNDATION
Since 2009, Spartina 449 has been a charitable supporter of the Daufuskie Island Historical Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to education, scientific discovery and charity for the purpose of preserving the cultural heritage of Daufuskie Island, South Carolina. The foundation has achieved numerous accomplishments, including the establishment of the Billie Burn Museum, the Gullah Learning Center, and most recently, the restoration of the famed "Midwife's Carriage", owned and operated by Island notable, Sarah Grant, from 1932 until 1969, whereby she assisted in the delivery of over 130 babies on Daufuskie.

MERMAIDS FOR MILITARY
At Spartina 449 we care deeply about our country and those who have fought for our freedom. Amidst many military bases in The South around our hometown on Daufuskie Island, South Carolina, we see the courage and commitment military men and women in our community make every day for the sake of our country. We work alongside veterans and family of active service members. From Beaufort, South Carolina, to Baghdad, Iraq and back again, we acknowledge the enormous sacrifice that veterans and their families have made for our freedom. That's why we proudly support the Wounded Warrior Project, which is making a positive, lasting impact on the lives of injured service members and their families.
